HELP CONTINUE THE TRADITION

IT IS TIME YET AGAIN FOR ONE OF FOREST HILLS’

most beloved traditions – the Christmas Luminaries. This beautiful tradition is made even more so because it requires the cooperation and participation of all of the neighborhood’s residents. When each person does his or her small part, the resultant display is truly stunning. So please, join us this year and place your luminaries along the street at dusk on Christmas Eve. Special thanks to Luke Habig for organizing this event for many, many years, dating back even to when IU had a winning basketball program.

Twenty volunteers are needed to help assemble and distribute luminary kits (including at least 6 SUVs or trucks to help with delivery). If you can help out, meet on Saturday, December 18, at 11:00 a.m. in the Habig’s garage at 5750 Carrollton Ave. Distribution should be complete by noon. The FHNA will provide coffee and donuts to those elves willing to volunteer.

If you're going to be gone Christmas Eve, please try to make arrangements with your neighbors to light your luminaries. The better participation we have, the more impressive to travelers the neighborhood looks, and we really do have a lot of visitors that night. If you know that a house near you is vacant, look on their doorstep for the delivered luminary bags, and pitch in.
